VDH Update, Saturday, June 6, 2020:

The Virginia Dept. of Health now reports 49,397 confirmed cases of coronavirus/COVID-19 in the state. That's up 865 cases from the previous day. There have been 1,460 deaths in the state, up 7 from the previous day.

The VDH Coronavirus Hotline, 1-877-275-8343, is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Gov. Northam gives updates Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:00 pm on the Governor's Facebook Page.

Governor Northam has created a task force of business representatives from around the state to come up with guidelines to reopen the economy, called Forward Virginia.

Virginians are urged to follow CDC recommendations to wear cloth face masks when they venture out, while also continuing to adhere to the six foot social distancing guideline.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has created a coloring book to help children Learn About the Coronvirus.

•Centra Health has opened a coronavirus information hotline: 434-200-1225

•The state's Feeding Program is open to all Virginians in need of food assistance. Visit vafoodbanks.org for more information.

•Anyone needing social services can dial 211. The Domestic Violence Hotline continues to operate at 1-800-838-8238.

•The Virginia Employment Commission encourages all displaced workers to apply for benefits by phone or online. The one-week waiting period and active job search requirements have been waived. Apply at the VEC Website or call 1-866-832-2363.
